Mini Minutes November 30th

Hello everybrother! Can you believe it’s already the last chapter meeting, and thus the last mini minutes, of the fall semester? I know you’ll all be sad about no longer getting 4 back-to-back-to-back-to-back mini-minutes in your inbox (oops…), but I for one can’t wait for the fun to continue next season… after I take a nap for about 4 weeks. Make sure not to get too stressed going into finals, and perhaps even take a break and chill with this week’s mini minutes!

  • Jamie shouts out Katie for making the slides!
  • Caroline shouts out Bodie and Kellin for turning older
  • Jason shouts out Stephen West
  • Jamie shouts out the last meeting of the semester
  • Isaac shouts out everyone who brought food
  • Sko buffs!
  • See Jamie after the meeting if the hours sheet doesn’t have you at 15
  • Good job

Exec

The fall activity report will be sent out by December 1st; thank you for your work!

Membership

The current plan is to divvy MEPs up amongst interested members, which will hopefully make them more fun (less monotonous) for the PMCs (I am endlessly grateful for the MEPs, and Ella did a great job, but there was… a lot of stuff to go over, to say the least). Bids will be sent out sometime after the end of the semester, and the membership committee will also be meeting over break. Make sure to fill out the big interest form (in #announcements) regardless of if you want a little or not!

Service

Upcoming service events:
– Holiday Fest 12/6, 1:30pm – 4:00pm (get pizza and move it to Macky, then clean up; not for hours)
– Library Reorganization (weekly or biweekly next semester; might start during finals or over break)
– Practice Room Cleaning 12/3 – same time as uniform return
– Uniform Return 12/3 – same time as practice room cleaning

Fundraising

Game night will be delayed to next semester because of how busy this time of the semester is, but that gives us time to think of more things for game night and other potential fundraisers! There is one more meeting this Wednesday, and then the budget will be ready by week 1 of next semester.

Historian

Katie made a Kappa “final” to gauge how much we know about the chapter (closed note). Today, we’re looking over the constitution and hoping that everyone practiced the song (spoiler alert: uhh… jk it went great!). The bulletin board will be the first or second week of next semester.

Ritual

Ritual workday will likely be either the first or the last day of break! During this, we’ll walk through all 3 degrees, look at what supplies we have / need, assign and practice speaking parts, etc.

We also voted to accept roughly 20 new PMCs, and managed to accept all of the changes to our chapter constitution as a full slate (thank Boh…). Finally, we did an extremely beautiful rendition of the fraternity song. Thank you all for a great first semester, and let’s strive ever higher next semester!

Always Eating Apples, Mostly Laying In The Bed,
Isaac

Mini Minutes November 16th

Hello brothers! I hope you’re all doing well, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I cannot wait for Thanksgiving break. Here are the mini minutes from this Sunday’s minutes.

  • Jason shouts out the Buffs for beating Portland St. (not a real state btw)
  • Jak shoauts out Jaylyn Sherrod for signing Jamie’s jersey
  • Jamie shouts out all of us for being here!
  • If you’re under 15 hours, here are upcoming hours opportunities:
    • Concert band reception
    • PMC interviews
  • Keep uploading photos!

Exec

The expectation is to be in-person for all meetings (unless there’s an emergency or health issue), and this will be stricter next semester, so please put all of the events next semester into your calendar now to plan around!

Membership

Sign up for PMC Interviews! Make sure to have at least one person actively listening to the PMC during the interview so they aren’t just staring at a wall of laptops – we want them to feel welcome – but also take good notes!

Service

Upcoming events:
– Library organization (date / time TBD)
– Practice room cleaning (TBD)
– Uniform return 12/3 during marching band
– Kappa Closet Cleaning during winter break (so not for hours)

Fundraising

Good job with the bake sale! The Chipotle fundraiser fell through on their end, sadly, but there is still the game night on 12/5 with a Mario Kart tournament and board / card games!

Jurisdiction

Constitution changes are almost finalized! We will record the fraternity song (different from the hymn) next meeting, so try to practice a bit. Next meeting is also a potluck, so sign up to bring stuff! Digitization and the bulletin board will sadly be pushed back to next semester.

Ritual

Degree workday in the works before next semester (whenever people are available) to ensure that everyone knows what’s going on and to make degree run more smoothly. If you’ve ever wanted to work on a movie with a dog, talk to Jak; even if you haven’t, join (and please be active in) the ritual channel so things can get planned!

We finished up the meeting by doing the Mid-Semester Check-In and going over an overview of the changes to the constitution (to be voted on next time). Thank you for reading this, and have a fantastic Thanksgiving Break!

AEA, MLITB,
Isaac

  • Discord updates
    • Make sure your notifications are on!
    • Make sure to fill out sign-ups for homecoming and banquet, and to show up to the things you’re signed up for!
    • Use @Active instead of @everyone (@everyone also pings alumni)
      • This is nitpicky (that’s why I’m the secretary) but technically you should use @everyone instead of @Active when you’re in a thread (the little subchannels), as @Active will cause everyone with the role to be added to the thread (and receive notifications from it) every time you use it, while @everyone has its scope contained to the current thread and its current members
      • If you’re unsure, just use @Active
    • Please react to messages to help let people know you’ve seen them!

Really great and informational meeting today, everyone, so make sure to also go home and get some rest! The semester’s not over just yet…

This time, I had the really crazy idea of actually making the mini minutes, y’know, minuture, so they’d hopefully be more digestible! Keeping that reduction in reading labor in mind, if you’ve made it this far, I would appreciate a 5 paragraph essay about the pros and cons of just copy+pasting from my normal minutes vs. actually retyping things to be shorter. You can email it to me (double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman, with no AI usage please!) by next chapter meeting – thank you, I love you all, and sko buffs!

Isaac

  • Raleigh shouts out Ray Cramer for helping with the Symphonic band
  • Caroline shouts out Jak for turning 21 yesterday
  • Murph shouts out 2 people for helping set up band rehearsals
